And finally the final watercolour.

This is the last watercolour. I had to use this sheet because of the wonderful way the colours have run and merged into each other. I was in the middle of clearing away all my Christmas stamp sets so out came the 'Wonderland Trees' inked in Mossy Meadow and stamped a few times. The sentiment is from the Wilderness Awaits set. With the addition of a seam binding bow the card is ready for either a male or female.

A quick post today, tomorrow is a total change of direction.
Spring /summer  catalogue starts on January 4th  contact me  if you would like a copy.

Wetlands again but not watercolour!

I love the wetlands stamp set. I made this one as the hessian ribbon was on my table from something I am going to share tomorrow..

I haven't used the large wood stamp for ages and the canadian goose always makes me chuckle. Stamped, daubed and coloured with marker pens.

This second card I made some time ago as a swap for team training. The birds in the sky are actually designer paper.

The story behind my chuckles over the geese, we used to live on a narrow boat and one of our favourite spots on the canal system is Leek pool in Derbyshire. As we reached the pool my OH would turn the boat engine off and we would glide in in silence. The pool is at least a mile from the nearest road which is a little country lane, no railway line, industrial site or even houses. Real peace until late afternoon when the geese turned up to give us their bath time show, they were very noisy splashing about.

These pictures were taken in October 2007

Watercolour with Wetlands

A bit of an ongoing theme. Unusual colours here but it works well. I have just used the little strip of birds. Then a few reeds using crumb cake, stamped when the paper was dry. This is not stamped on watercolour paper I have used the standard A4 whisper white card.

Watercolour with Lovely as a tree.

Here we are number 3 card. Its a bit different from the previous two but shows how versatile the, ink the block, spritz with water then ink the paper with the block.

This is one of the sheets that nearly ended up in the bin. I think it was only the second piece. I didn't wet the watercolour paper first and I didn't spritz the inked block very much which left a to of white gaps but I loved the colour combination. I actually intended to use the Wetlands stamp set on here hence the darker blue as water but it wouldn't have worked.

In reality I tried Lovely as Tree just using black memento ink but they didn't show up very well then thinking back to lots of cards I have seen on pinterest I new that they looked good when heat embossed in white. so that is what I did.

I really like the finished picture, its a bit arty!

Watercolour 2 and Wilderness Awaits

This is another card using the, ink the clear block, then spritz, technique. As you can see the top corners didn't really have enough water on, but the join between the green and blue has blended beautifully.
I have stamped bushes to either side of Mr foxy. He has been stamped on an unwatered piece of watercolour paper. When I did watercolour him the fine detail was lost so he has been lightly coloured using the crumb cake marker pen. I could have stamped him in memento black the the watercolour would have been fine but he didn't look right in black...... perhaps its just me.

I have enhanced the colour on this picture but it has come out a bit red where as its actually cajun craze which is an orange brown colour but you get the idea.

Watercolour and Wilderness awaits

When I decided to do the reindeer the other day I also came across a book of postcards made of watercolour paper. Its really thick and a joy to work with. Most of these things are a matter of trial and error. How much water to put on the paper, how much to spritz on the block once inked etc etc. The good thing about that is that every piece you do is different, some come out great and some not so good. This one was a third attempt I wanted the colours you get in Scotland at the beginning and end of the day, the pink and pale cold blue with a touch of yellow from the sun.

Its only on seeing the picture enlarged I realise the reindeers nose is not aligned over the stamped image quite correctly! Not sure how when his legs are OK.......
Once I had my background I have torn the edges then daubed the scruffy bits, I love daubing. The sentiment in this set is a bit unusual but I think its a lovely phrase, especially for a card from a teenager to a grandfather or similar.

I will be back tomorrow using another stamp from this wonderful "Wilderness Awaits' stamp set.

Box Frame Tuesday

The creative mojo is still not quite there but, whilst surfing some of my favourite blogs I came across this on Frenchie stamps. She does wonderful videos and I just love her style. So of I went to create similar.

I didn't have a black frame infact I only had one frame in the cupboard and its not my usual style, you know the ones from that large Swedish store, but this one would be ok and do the job. I started with sahara sand rather than crumb cake which has given a much more muted design and  I think it does need a black frame so I am now off out shopping!
I have used many similar elements

This one is a bit arty, it is reflecting the trees outside which are shrouded in fog and have been all day and it is now raining again!
