Sweet and Simple

Every now and again we throw in a workshop/class thats 10 for £10. Because of so many cards they have to be simple and for such a good price you have to be careful what you use. At the Den we have a 10 for £10 coming up on 18th March. But we are now so well organised we have started our samples. Here they come, now I have made a little video of them and you know me and IT don't get on so a) I hope it loads ok and b) I hope it doesn't make you sea sick!!!

The video                oops still not working, attempt number 5! watch this space..........

This is all the cards together, a bit difficult as there are 10 of them.

And here they are as individual thumbnail pictures. I'm one missing can you work out which one?

Such variety and so pretty. Get those ends of papers out and get creative.

Beautiful You

Everyone loves this stamp set...... this set of cards is very similar to the last group I made and there will be new styles coming in the next few weeks.
Love these colours, they are bright and cheerful. These samples are for a class on Saturday February 18th at Our Creative Den. Book online. There has been so much interested in those pop of pink and black cards I made I thought this might work well as a class.

How to make:-
The cards are very easy to make, a 5" square card base. The designer paper is a 11 1/2cm square with 2 small 21/4" squares which fit over the top to one side. Stamp the image with momento onto white card then onto a similar coloured designer paper. Fussy cut the dress, umbrella and hat then layer onto the image and stick. The image is the mat and layered onto a piece of card matching the paper in colour.
(It wasn't until reading back I realise I have used metric and imperial measurements. I tend to work to the nearest mark on the rule! I will get better at this!)

High Tide, Scene Box

Its Wednesday and our regular monthly 'second Wednesday' of the month group. This time we are going to create a scene box. Attendees will create the scene, the box and then put them together. There is a lot of stamping and a lot of daubing. I have pictures for you but the box is not quite finished, I have a box of embellishments that people can choose from to make the scene a little more 3 dimensional around the base. Watch out for pictures in a day of two of the finished projects.

Looking at these pictures I'm not sure they do the box justice. Hopefully the pictures of the completed boxes from the class will photograph better. I had very blue fingers when I had finished but I did enjoy it.

Shopping

If your order is more than £25 please use the hostess code at the top of the page. Then in the middle of March you will get a small gift from me as a thank you.

Moon Baby

One of the stamp sets in the spring/summer catalogue I really liked was the 'Moon Baby'. I don't really have anything to use to make baby cards and I thought this was really cute. Three quick makes that can't fail to raise a smile.

Not sure I could choose a favourite, which do you like best?

Jems Blog Hop - Hearts

Welcome to the February blog hop. The theme this month is hearts. I did spend a day making cards with hearts for the craft studio and they are all in the window. For the blog hop I had something different in mind, I was going to do a scrapbook page with a large heart holding all my pictures but I haven't gathered the photos together yet so that will have to be another day.

I have gone for a bit of mixed media, other than the key everything else is Stampin'Up. Its a pity we no longer have the corrugated card as that is great for this type of project. I started by covering the heart in cheap glue, re spreading and respreading until I had a thin layer with bubbles in, then left it to dry...... this gives the surface some texture before you start to daub the colours on, then I stamped on top I hope you like it.

I just felt this was not quite finished and needed another layer....... what to do.

I have added half a dozen circles of the lovely bronze thread. Its looks great in real life but the pictures just don't pick it up very well, plus the burlap tie.

The three colours used are Real Red, Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mist. The four stamp sets are Awesomely artistic, Sunshine sayings, Timeless textures and Delicate details from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue. The one piece of designer paper is out of the Falling in Love pack and then one of the new doilies. I have used the new doilies as a  stencil and then coloured it and stuck it on. The sentiment is covered with fine tip glue. Getting the balance in the amour of stamping and distribution of colours is a fine line and I do wish it had a bit more dimension but its different.

Shopping: Please use my online shop to see more details about the products mentioned. If you do order and you spend more than £25 please use this hostess code then in the middle of next month you will receive a small gift from me as a thank you. Happy shopping.

Night of Navy, Sahara Sand and White

These four cards have been cut out and ready to assemble for a while. I saw this amazing blog post and video and just had to have a go. You need the second video down called 'One sheet Wonder' here A huge thank you to Minke Brattinga.

I love these three colours together, and just having the three makes it much simpler to put the cards together. There isn't much stamping, background wood grain and sentiments but there is lots of die cutting. In the video it shows you how to cut one sheet of 12" x 12" paper so that you can create  a dozen cards at least. Then there is lots of trimmer action as you cut the card to layer up each small piece of paper.

I have completed four cards, the rest are all similar, I am just adding the sentiments.

The designer paper is the beautiful 'Floral Boutique'. available now in my online shop.
Item number 141663 also the die set 'Flourish Thinlits' item number 141478 Plus today is last day to use the hostess code at the top of the page. Use that if your order is over £25 and I will send you a small gift in the middle of the month as a thank you.

Swaps

I can't believe its been more than a week since training. I still haven't shown you the beautiful swaps I received other than the ice cream one.
There was one swap using the same stamp set as I had used, the super hero set, and also a sample from the spring/summer catalogue.

The first stamp set in the Sale a bration catalogue is floral and I have lots of those......... but I hadn't thought of turning the flower over and using it as a palm tree. This one was made by Amanda at the Craft Spa, she is an awesome demonstrator and blogger. Check out her blog here Her sample also shows off the new stitched framelit dies. They layer up so beautifully.

Another stamp I have got but it hasn't seen daylight yet is this lovely little van, I have a few ideas for using this, watch this space.

My very good friend knew I had a thing for bumble bees and made me this, the hexagon embossed background is a new folder, its one of those really deeply embossed patterns like the cable knit from the seasonal catalogue. She has die cut the hexagons using the dies from yesterdays set then added the die cut bees from the dragonfly set which is still also on my shelf but I have great plans for that as well. I need more days in the week.

Finally a little romantic one. The balloon is a new die and stamp set bundle, the little foxes are from the annual catalogue stamp and punch set which I have featured before, making it into a valentine card is ingenious.

Such a great variety to choose from, something for everyone. If you would like a catalogue get in touch. Happy crafting
