Power of Hope, Blue and White Porcelain style, Good Luck Card.

I inherited quite a selection of blue and white porcelain from my grandma. There are lots of unusual pieces from Holland but also some very fine see through porcelain from the far east. I have added a few items over the years but sadly they are still in boxes in the loft since we moved.
Todays make was inspired by the blue and white porcelain. All the paint work looks a bit 'runny' !
The only addition to the card not in this stamp set is the birds from the High Tide set.

The detail....
Only 1 ink colour used -  Night of Navy, then an aqua painter did the rest.

The Power of Hope stamp set is available free with  £90 spend. It also comes with an embossing folder which I will use later in the week.

Power of Hope: Male Birthday card: #Simplestamping

Sorry about being missing yesterday, with the OH in bed I have had a whole day in the craft room (other than being up and down the stairs fetching copious amounts of tea) which means I totally loose track of time. I have been very creative though, so there will be no missing blog days for at least a week!
Power of Hope is still on my desk, today I am bringing you a very simple style of card, with simple stamping.  I do find it difficult to keep things clean and simple. This card has been created on a Stampin'Up! notecard. They are smaller than C6 cards, but scale wise this was a better size. But the key part of this card is the ribbon. I have had this a while but only used it once, maybe because its so lovely lol.

Just look at that ribbon. If you click on the picture it will take you to my Stampin'Up! online shop

The trees from the 'Power of Hope' stamp set have been stamped in 3 different shades of green. Stampin'Up! actually has 7 shades of green, so lots to choose from.

The Power of Hope stamp set is available FREE with  £90 spend. It also comes with an embossing folder which I will use later in the week.

Power of Hope Teepee card

Bit late posting tonight. OH is poorly so its been a very busy day.

I wanted to use the Power of Hope stamp set to make a collection of cards, but it is proving to be slow progress, I keep getting side tracked to other things. One being tee pee style cards. Watch out there will be quite a few more over the coming weeks.

I don't have anything else in my collection of stamps, which is vast, quite like this power of hope set, plus I love the sentiment.

That sentiment would make a lovely centre piece to a 3D framed piece of work.
Here are the other sides:-

This is what it looks like when flat, and it does fold up small enough to fit in a standard envelop. The card is based on 3 - 4"squares. Very easy to make. The worse part is when you realise you velcro dots and you have no idea where they are.

The Power of Hope stamp set is available free with  £90 spend. It also comes with an embossing folder which I will use later in the week.

Fun in the kitchen for pretty makes.......

Its amazing the number of things you have in your kitchen that can give you a change to what you have in your stash..... My offer of 2m of polka dot tulle ribbon this month for orders is a good example. The ribbon is very white, using products in your kitchen cupboards can give you matching ribbon and paper.

I started out raiding my cupboard for types of tea bags. I had the usual 'Tetley' some Green Tea, and a box of Rose Tea from Singapore. Before I started the box is really pretty, it opened like an old fashioned pencil case with a slide lid.

When I opened the sealed foil packet inside the smell was wonderful - rose petals, quite floral, not everyones choice but I thought it was lovely.
I put an A5 piece of paper, a variety of ribbons, and lace into a bowl, added 3 tea bags and boiling water. I had also steamed some asparagus tips but cooked the stems in the water, so I put the same into the pan of water left. Left them all for a couple of hours.

I fished out the tea bags and left them to dry on a piece of kitchen roll. Everything else was smoothed out and put into a cool oven for 15 mins to speed up the drying process. I am not very patient.

Then I got creative, making paper and lace flowers for  a pretty tag.  I used, the paper, the kitchen roll, the lace and 3 types of ribbon from the Rose Tea bowl.

Into my sketch book I created pockets to store everything that I had left.

Golf - who do you know who plays golf

I know nothing about golf! I quite like watching it on the TV but thats about it. I would be hopeless I just don't have that gross motor hand eye co-ordination.

The last Timeless Tulips (for the moment!)

Another of my favourite style of makes, as they say the oldies are the goodies.
It wasn't until I had finished this and sat back and had a good look at it I realised I had cut off the 2 flaps that we usually leave on, what am I like?  However I do like the finished make. I have done it in 2 colour ways, I am going to send one to a friend for her sample box. Which one do you prefer:- Blackberry bliss or real red?

Timeless Tulips Fancy Fold.

I love this fold, its so easy and gives you so many opportunities to create something different yet with the same format.

Today I have kept it simple. The paper is from the Magnolia pack with a little real red daubing around the edges to ensure there was no white paper showing. I have used the stitched framelets for the ovals, then fussy cut a three flowers. Really the stamping is very simple. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays, this is one set that stays on my desk. Although this tulips set does have a 'Happy Birthday' sentiment in a similar font. (which I should have used!)

Mark Making Part 1

When was the last time you actually thought about mark making? Its something youngsters do in primary school once a yer minimum with a good art teacher, maybe we should do it more often and every year until we leave school. Its easy, its fun, there is no right or wrong! I bet if you tipped your handbag out on a table there would be atleast 5 things in there that you could mark make with.

My Bag:- Rennies, lipstick, comb, 1 or 2 p coin for rolling, a biro top. there you are easy...... you have a go,
I will send 2m of spotty tulle ribbon to a name drawn out of the hat of those who send their list of 5.

For this exercise I laid down a layer of white acrylic paint and then before it was dry a layer of turquoise. Then I started the mark making. The item I really enjoyed was the plastic bit out of the roll of ribbon, it just rolled across the paper so well, maybe I should have done more. Can you work out what else I have used?

When all the paint was dry I then folded the paper, cut a T shape and made a book. I haven't stamped in the book yet or finished the cover so maybe this should be Part 1, as I do intend completing the inside of the book and covers.

The white criss cross on here was done with the mesh net that the sweet potatoes had come in! I was rather pleased with that bit.

I'm thinking mermaids, shells and other sea creatures for in the the book. What would you use?

Home Decor - Small boat on the sea

Many years ago I used to live in the Scilly Isles. Little boats like this were a common sight. When the weather is as it has been these last few nights I think about the brave men who go out in these boats as well as all those in the Navy. My Dad was in the Royal Navy, away for months at a time, funny that my Mum often used to say  'worse things happen at sea' when I was upset about something. I did wonder about that!

The background stormy paper is Stampin'Up! See A Silhouette Designer Series Paper, so many ideas for others from this set. The waves and boat parts are hand painted by me.  I think the frame area needs a sentiment but I'm not sure what. These home decor items are for sale.  This one is £18. Please email me karen@krafting.co.uk check out my Items for sale page, see top right list.

The designer paper is available in my online shop.
