Sea Street Shaker Card

Another team training card. Its a long time since I made a shaker card and last time I used beads in the shaker part, most of the beads were in the bottom of my bag when I got home! Not entirely a success then.

This card uses Real Red as the base card. The shaker frame is made with Coastal Cabana. The stamped anchor has been punched out with a 1" punch the lobster and crab with the 7/8ths punch these have been fixed onto DSP with dimensionals allowing the silver glimmer stars to move behind them when the card is shaken. The backing for the shaker part has been stamped with the little fish. I love the little fish stamp.

Traveler

This was the first stamp set I ordered from the new catalogue. I love it and the four makes I have made with it have been so my style, lots of daubing and over stamping. Plus mostly in the neutral colours.
This first card, I'll show the rest next week, was made at training last week. Its very similar to one I had already done.
I have stamped the suitcase in Chocolatechip, the passport in Crumb Cake and the camera in Soft Shuade.

Sea Street

 These are my 'thank you' cards for my Stampers 6 customers. It was inspired by a make by Kylie Henshaw another member of the Jems SU team.

I started with 5 ink pads in blue shades and practised with the water brush until I had the 3 shades that looked good together. I then did the three washes on each of the 7 cards, I always make a spare!

Once the watercolour had dried I stamped the lobster from the Sea Street stamp set. I stamped it in Cajun Craze a colour that I haven't used very much but will stay on my desk for a while now.



The Thank You is Sassy Salutations. I think this print matches the looseness of the rest of the design.
I completed the card with a little Lost Lagoon ribbon. Love it.

Swallowtail

I had an unexpected day to craft yesterday as the car broke down, we live out in the sticks so no Ladies that lunch for me!

I started on a project I have been planning for a while. The box was bought in the sale at our local craft shop last year, its one of those craft board (mud coloured) ones. The papers were an unopened pack from last years selection. They are in the clearance rack for sale at the moment.(shop now in my online shop at www.karenwatts.stampinup.net ) I think I must have used at least 3 packs of this paper.

I started by painting box with one of those match pots, it didn't take long to dry. Then I lined the inside with a pink paper from the pack and the outside with this pretty flowery selection.

I stamped the swallowtail with stazon onto acetate then with Rich Razzleberry onto vellum. I left them and went onto the flowers. I have lent my spiral flower die to a friend so I wet some of the pink paper left over from the inside of the box, screwed it up till it was dry then flattened it out and tore a spiral. I punched 2 flowers from the pink with the large flower punch and layered them up adding a spiral flower to the centre.

The floating butterfly is the swallowtail stamped on to shrink plastic. I coloured the stamp with the Blendabilities and wow they do sing. My shrink plastic reduces images by about 60% hence the size of the butterfly. I then set it on some flower wire which I have stuck to the box with silicone glue.

Assembling the whole montage was fun. I cut the two swallowtails out sticking the bodies together but creasing the wings upright. I arranged the flowers then added all the little butterflies including the flying one. I have cut and layered Rich Razzleberry card with very vanilla cutting them with the deco label dies. These are to add a message or initial to.

Handbag

Today I have a totally new make for you.
Its a little handbag with 4 cards in it. 
The bag is made from Designer Series Paper (DSP) but is quite strong. 
The whisper white organza ribbon is ideal for the handles.

Another tin of cards

These have been made in the same way as the last weeks tin but with a different colour combination and a stamp set from SAB, sadly no longer available but have you got it at the back of your cupboard.

The colour combination is Wisteria wonder, crisp cantaloupe and crumb cake.

 

Project Life Memory Keepers

So what did I use to make the pages in yesterdays blog?






I started with a mixed pack of 12 x12 photo pocket pages. There are 6 different arrangements of pockets in this pack, suitable for all photo sizes.




I bought the Everyday Adventure PL card collection and the Everyday Adventure PL accessory pack. These are great, the cards in each pack fit the photo pockets so no cutting needed. The cards are in a range of colours and styles. Some have large speech bubbles on, some are lined to make journalling easy. In the accessory pack there are peel off letters in 2 of the card colours, there is a roll of wash tape, wooden accessories, arrows and flags.  All the little things to make your page more interesting. Then they all fit into a neat storage box, ready for the next adventure.





















I bought the pack of 2 journaling pens. One is a fine nib the other a medium. I enjoyed writing with the fine nib pen. The medium is a little softer but easily writable with.

I bought the corner rounder, mainly because my very old one (not SU) had been dropped in a previous workshop and exploded in plastic and springs all over the floor!

Then the 3 stamp sets. I was fortunate to win the stamp set with the sentiments. They are so good for PL as the vocabulary is different from the usual. One stamp says adventure bound which I expect to use quite a lot in pages about my boys.
The 2nd set is numbers, months and days, this will be great for making photo calendars and recording the dates/days when events happen.
The 3rd set is fun, there are 2 speech bubble stamps, A label outline, arrows and other things that will make your page interesting.
