All good things come to an end.

On Tuesday afternoon it will be the last class in my studio. I have started to pack up as we are moving house 250 miles south from West Yorkshire to the Cotswolds. The actual move won't happen until January but the studio will close at the end of this month. I still don't know how or where I am going to have some craft stuff at home as we are living in a tiny rented flat at the moment.

However back to Tuesday afternoon. I have 5 places left. Join me to create this really pretty tin of cards. With the festive season upon us the tins are full of Christmas cards. I have used the limited time offered Snow is Glistening stamp set which I love. I shall be using this for my own cards too.

In making these cards I haven't used the main image of the tree which is very beautiful but the other stams in the set, along with the matching dies. These little mini cards are so useful to pop in with a present.

Here I have decorated the edge of the envelopes.

A tin full!

And the decorated tin. Love this project. If you fancy joining me for the grand finale message me here

Stamp and hop, blog hop. Casing the annual catalogue

Welcome to the November Stamp'n Hop. This months theme is casing the annual catalogue.
Thanks to Susan for her lovely makes.

I still have a long list of what I want to order from the annual catalogue so joining this hop was brilliant for me. This arrived on my desk a week ago.
I love a punch that matches a stamp set and I love 3d so I have cased from pg 47.

I had to do a christmas one.

I have kept this one very simple, just christmas green and red. and I have stamped and punched to make them look like mini poinsettia. I have to admit I am not very good at keeping these plants alive long after Christmas!

Now its time to hop over to Mo's page to see what she has made.

'Lovely as a Tree' vintage style.

I wanted to use 'Lovely as a Tree' for one of my Christmas cards. I needed to keep it simple but wanted it to be classy. I have gone for a vintage style in crumb cake, soft suede and early expresso.

I was happy with this, I love the little bit of glitter on the tree, not too much, just enough but... it needed something else, ribbon but how....
I decided to add a layer of vellum. I added the ribbon and stamped the sentiment with gold ink.

I do think this is a classic card.

This is one of the cards we are making next Tuesday afternoon. Message me if you would like to join us.

Seasonal Catalogue Stamp n Hop blog-hop.

This is my first time joining the Stamp n Hop so I hope my projects are up to the mark.

A few weeks ago I was fortunate to win a prize draw within a group I belong to. I received the Spirited Snowmen stamp set in the post. I was excited as it wasn't a set I had set my heart on, but I love a challenge. Today I have three cards for you. One very simple, one with a bit of a twist and one that my regular skilled monthly crafters would love.

The first card is mostly just stamping, with only 2 colours of ink. The die cut circles use the stitched framelits which are always out on my big shot and the dancing snowman is coloured with the marker pens. All finished off with the lovely spotty ribbon.

The second card uses the ice skating snowmen. I have reversed the image which gives a demonstrating point when done in class. I have used a few of the  Blend pens to colour this , good for the background colour as it dries so smooth.

Finally a card for the skilled crafter. Lots of daubing, my favourite technique. I have water coloured the snowmen with an aqua-painter then fussy cut. The white is heat embossed and finished with a die cut in the glimmer paper snowflake.

With my wedding anniversary in 10 days - 36 yrs the sentiment is appropriate. Ahhhhh.

Tuesday Special

Tuesday is class day, I have card and a cuppa in the morning. We won't be using the stamparatus this morning but we have in the past and all the ladies love it. 2 of them have bought their own and use it for all their stamping.
Tuesday afternoon is craft and cake. We craft, put the world to rights, sing occasionally when Elaine leads us but we always have cake and tea at half past 2. This week we are using the animal outing stamp set. A box card and a gift box, fits a post it note pad really well.

Apologies....

Sorry folks, no post this evening of a creative make, circumstances beyond my control.
Back tomorrow, maybe even 2 creations! k x

Product of the Week - starting with bears!!!

I have been doing some research into 'National Days' as I have a friend on facebook who has some sort of 'national day' every day - usually to do with food - The national salami day made me laugh. So I went to investigate.
I found there are so many sites to look at with a variety of items for each day - a bit too take your pick for me.
I decided to use the Project Britain site September is National Bear Necessities Month, this is organised by WSPA
So this weeks product of the week is the Stamparatus.
What does that have to do with bears.... I can hear you thinking. You will have to pop back this evening to see my creation.

The Stamparatus is an amazing tool, it sits on my desk everyday and I regularly use it.

Friday Tip of the Week - Get the scales out!

So many times I have heard customers wish that the Tombow bottle was clear so that they could see when it is empty. It does get gunged up sometimes and the glue doesn't flow then comes out in a blob! Yes that is annoying. So for my tip........

A new bottle of glue weighs 40 grams. I know I'm sad I went and got some scales out. An empty bottle weighs 17 grams. You have 23grams of glue in each bottle. It does actually say this on the bottle but it doesn't actually mean very much when you are desperate to stick something.
So next time you are shaking the bottle wondering if there is anything in there get the scales out.

What about plastic?

Well what is that I hear you say.... that is an Ikea mirror. The orange card in the middle covers the mirror so that I didn't get glue on it. This is a project I have seen somewhere on the internet but now can't find.

These are two of the mirrors that I have completed in a different way earlier in the year. These had to be stamped with stazon as the usual inks wouldn't stamp and took ages to dry. The colouring in has been done with a dry blend pen nib and the usual inks.

And this is the finished project.

As a matter of interest the two pictures above have different ribbon, white polka dot or lace, which do you prefer?

The  designer paper has stuck really well using the tombow.

How do you stick stuff to cellophane?

Last week was all about designer paper. I used the tombo adhesive to stick card to cellophane, often a difficult surface to stick to. It worked really well.
