Product of the Week - A Stamp Set/Suite

Its Monday again, don't they come around quickly. This week I want to explain all about the 'Rooted in Nature' suite. It is a suite because there are so many items that work together so well, matching in colour and style.

The stamp set has 16 rubber stamps, including 5 sentiments, then there are the matching dies, 12 in total. The dies are great for cutting out the fiddlier stamps but some of the leaves are very easy to fussy cut.

Then there are the papers. It is very difficult to describe how beautiful the papers are and the catalogue rarely does the papers justice. Later in the week I will show some makes that use mostly paper which will display them to their best. The designer papers feature 8 different colours and whisper white.

Once you have the stamps, die and paper you need some embellishments and ribbon. This suite has a pack of 4 matching spools of bakers twine. These colours match the colours used in the designer papers. Then there are the embellishments, mini metallic leaves - you get 24 in a box, 6 each of 2 designs in silver and copper. They are beautiful.

I love this suite and don't think I will ever run out of ideas to use it.

So not the shortest of posts, I just think the whole suite works together so well and works all the year around too. At the end of the week i will bring you Christmas makes with this set!

In colour week - Blueberry Bushel

I have saved this one until last as its my favourite of the 'In Colours' plus I had a little play with a very old technique and this colour worked the best with it.

In this flat lay picture I have put the card between the Night of Navy on the dark side and Pacific Point for the lighter shade. The pacific point is actually much brighter than it shows up in the picture, I did take 1/2 a dozen shots but couldn't gt it to show any brighter.... possibly the lights in the studio!

I have used the aqua painter and some ink in the lid of the ink pad to colour this. I have stamped on the standard whisper white card and just been careful not to add too much water. No crinkles here!!!

Then .... a long time ago I had seen a technique using bleach. Stampin'Up card has the colour going all the way through it not just coated on the surface like some other card. The bleach will sometimes do something a bit magic where it exposes colours used to make the card pigment. For the Blueberry Bushel it works a treat. giving a turquoise that is almost florescent.

I think it looks great. What do you think?

Friday - Tip of the Week

I love Friday, sharing hints and tips with you, to help with storage or techniques or making those lovely resources go that bit further. Todays Tip of the week is about storage.

When I buy a new colour of ink I always buy a bottle of re-inker. I admit I have some colours I haven't opened the re inker yet but other colours where I am on my 3rd or 4th bottle of re ink. We all have the colours that we turn to most often. And occasionally I will buy a new ink pad if the pad is getting worn and dirty..... all those classes with many stampers take their toll particularly if you do a lot of daubing like I do!

My shelves used to look like this:-

When I was rummaging for card those little bottles for re inking used to fall off which was annoying.
Now they look like this:-

All tidy and smart.

My next job is to punch small circles of paper to put on the top of the lids so I can see really easily where each colour is. These are the small wood mounted stamp boxes. They are at the back of the catalogue on page 206. You get 4 of these half size boxes for £4.75. If you are buying the In colours you only need one as there are only 5 colours but you will use the other three boxes. They are a brilliant handy size.

Thursday Call out - In colour week - Grapefruit Grove

Such a pretty colour. Pity we will only have it for a couple of years, but I intend to enjoy it.

Here it is between, Calypso Coral and the new Petal Pink! What a lovely combination these are.

Again I have used the aqua painter and some ink out of the lid of the pad.

Its Thursday today, my order day, I shall be buying the In Colour Papers

In colour embellishments, this year they are these lovely little binder clips, great for making milk carton style boxes to fasten them and hold a label.

And  finally some matching ribbon, perhaps just the Grapefruit Grove, the Call me Clover and the Blueberry Bushel. I have a lot of red ribbon and I'm not sure I would use the yellow!

in colour week - Pineapple Punch

So Pineapple Punch day has arrived. I think its fair to say I am not a 'yellow' person. Its not a colour I would choose for anything. I even prefer not to have daffodils or other yellow flowers in the garden.
Needless to say this isn't one of my favourite colours!
Whilst I was making the card I wondered what I would match it up with. It doesn't work very well with the other yellows, it is very acidic but then I teamed it with the acidic greens which I love and bingo... that worked so well. It will be interesting to see how many times I manage to use this colour.

Here it is between So Saffron and Daffodil Delight.

And now between Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist. It does pop with the greens doesn't it.?

Midweek Special. What we did yesterday!

On a Tuesday afternoon I have three lovely ladies who come and craft every week. We usually make cards but I try and mix it up with 3D items and other things. Sometimes it is quite hard to come up with something different that I know they will enjoy. I have been running very short on inspiration this last couple of weeks. However...
Monday of last week my studio partner arrived at work shattered, she had been up half the night making lists of what she still had to do for her wedding, (which is tomorrow) and she had been sat in the garden about 4am with a cup of coffee watching a hedgehog..... I had a light bulb moment.
During the previous week I had been using the  'Rooted in Nature' set, the leaves are lovely, and look good in a variety of colours. I still have my 'Love you' set from Sale-a-Bration a couple of years ago. Out came the hedgehog, lots more leaf stamping and fussy cutting later, a bit of a scramble for 4 matching frames and the Tuesday class was sorted.

These are what my ladies made, we also had chocolate cake with our tea!

All different but all similar. The last one hasn't got the glass on the front so that other wee items can be added. Love the tree stump in the first box.. So pleased with how all three came out.

In colour week - Lovely Lipstick

Love this red, it fits in so well with all the shades of red, you could go on and add all the pinks too but I restrained myself!
The reds are from left to right... Merry Merlot (a new colour), Cherry Cobbler, Lovely Lipstick card, real red and then I should have Poppy Parade, another new colour but I think its melon mambo! I have tried to be so well organised with this weeks posts (Oh dear)

I have used an aqua-painter to colour, not adding any extra ink just lightly painting over the lines that are stamped

In colour week Call me Clover

Each day this week I am going to share with you some information about this years 'In Colours'.
I haven't used them very much as there have been so many other lovely new colours and in past years I have usually used just the In colours for the month of June!
First out of the box is Call me Clover and I have to say I was doubtful at first but I love it. It is a genuine grass green colour.

I have placed the card between two of the other greens, on the darker side is 'Garden Green' and on the lighter side is 'Old Olive'. Call me Clover fits right in the middle and is great for layering up similar colours.

Love this stamp set. Being able to have just an outline plus a stamp with some solid colour on is a great way of showing off the ink. This is the 'Accented Blooms' stamp set.

A card ready for colouring.

Product of the week - In Colours

It occurred to me last week that I hadn't shared anything about the 'In Colours' yet this year.  With the big new colour refresh they have got left out so this week I am going to concentrate on the wonderful rainbow bright In Colours!

The names are some thing to conjure with Blueberry Bushel, Lovely lipstick, Pineapple Punch, Call me clover and Grapefruit Grove, if I said they were blue, green, orange, red and yellow could you match them to their names..... I bet you could!

IN these 5 colours you can buy:- A4 card, 12"x12" card, embossing powder, 6"x6" designer paper stack, 1/8" crosgrain ribbon, marker pens and mini binder clips.

What I love about the In Colours is that you could buy all of this plus a packet of whisper white card and one stamp set in your starter kit, thats £130 of product for £99. What a haul that would be.

I think its confession time.... you can see in the picture there are only 4 ink pads, the Pineapple Punch has escaped. I can't find it anywhere and I have no idea where it has gone. I haven't even opened it! I know everything must be somewhere but could someone tell me where the somewhere is.

Creative Saturday

I have had a bit of a play with the 'Rooted in Nature' stamp set. I have had this one for quite a while but not really had a play. This is my first round of cards with this set and as usual once I got going the ideas started to flow. I think at some point I will also make some very simple cards with the designer paper which matches this set. I just love the colours in the papers.

I think you will agree there is quite a range of cards here!

This is the sample from On Stage, It makes a great display of all the elements from the set. The great sentiments, the beautiful delicate stamps, the glorious coloured matching designer papers and to top it off those lovely embellishments. There is also a pack of 4 spools of bakers twine. I must use that at some point for one of the cards.

This second card is all about just one of the designer papers. I haven't stamped those leaves, it is one of the designs. I have added the sentiment which is from the 'Happy Birthday Gorgeous' in Mint Macaron, one of the returning colours, layered onto a mint macaron matt, both die cut with the 'Stitched Framelits. The ribbon is mint macaron but now retired. Well we all have to keep a bit of spakle.

The third card is all stamped. I have used Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide and crumb cake. All these leaf stamps are part of the set. Then I fussy cut one of each design. I do have the dies but I enjoy fussy cutting, I know a bit sad! I love the sentiment, this is stamped in Tranquil Tide. The big round slice through the trunk has been fussy cut too which I have underneath the sentiment, the slice of lemon lime twist card just balances the project.

Watercolour at its simplest. I have masked off the two sides of the card leaving this funnel down the centre. I used an aqua painter very quickly starting at the top with blue - Night of navy then blueberry bushel (a new in colour) then lemon lime twist and a little tranquil tide. The tree and sentiment are stamped with momento. Plus I have used a strand of the matching bakers twine. Love this one. Very simple but looks good.

Finally my favourite fold..... a z fold. One the front I have used the woodland embossing folder which remains in this years annual catalogue. The tree has been fussy cut as have the leaves. I have kept to a limited colour palette of Soft Suede, garden green and crumb cake. The sentiment is from the set.

In the picture below I have also made a little milk carton style box with the designer paper.

Its Thursday.........over to you

What is your favourite colour?
Check out the 50 colours that Stampin'Up have this year. So many pretty new colours.
Check out the colours here and let me know which one is your favourite....

Last Saturday I told you about the challenge that Stampin'Up have set us demonstrators for August to sell 9,708 ink pads.

At the end of this first week in the UK we have reached 7% of the total set. I know that some of you who are good at maths can work out what 7% of 9,708 is.......

I've done it,  that = 679 ink pads. I have sold 2 of them.

I love the new style ink pads, its taken a couple of weeks to get used to them. Plus next week I am going to do a special week on this years In Colours. I hadn't realised I hadn't done that yet. Its probably because there are so many new colours this year and I love them.

If you fancy helping me sell my 10 ink pads to be a successful part of the challenge please check out the 50 colours on offer here.
