Brusho to play with

A new tool to play with..... Brusho paints. I have used them before and they are manufactured locally in Sheffield South Yorkshire. They are fun, messy and easy to use but you do have to get away from being neat and tidy whilst you do, thats never been a problem for me. I do recommend having a kitchen roll to hand though.

The Brusho is a very fine powder that comes in a small plastic pot. Some people recommend piercing the lid so that you sprinkle the paint powder like salt and pepper. I removed my lids and used a mini spoon to sprinkle like the sugar on my porridge. I was reluctant to pierce the lid as I am not confident that when there is no heating on in the studio the damp wouldn't get to the paint. Something to consider if you live in the colder climates.

I have used good quality 300gsm water colour paper. I love the weight and texture of this paper and you can lay a lot of water on it without it going through or much wrinkle. And I use A LOT of water!
These are the two sheets I created in a very short space of time. Both are a mixture of wet paper and misted paint powder. As I have used so much water I have developed 'flows of coloured water! The blue can be overpowering so I haven't used as much on the second sheet. Personally I love the mossy green, you just don't know what colour is going to turn up. Can you see that small splash of purple on the second sheet, who knew that would happen.
On the second piece I have used my aqua painter and encouraged the water to flow. Its all about play/practise, play/practice, play/practise.

Eventually when almost dry I finished the first one off with the heat tool. I had created another sheet whilst it was drying. The back of the paper remained clean and dry..... I did say it would hold a lot of water.
What to do with it now.....
I have the Magical Day stamps and they hadn't been out of the box. I still wasn't sure what I would do with them as I didn't want to cover up all all of the painted surface Plus I wanted to see what the paint would be like to stamp on. This is my first make....

I went with the mermaid, I have coloured her with the marker pens then a little wink of stella. I still had some of that lovely glitter ribbon and sequins to match.

I have stamped the little sea horses onto the painted paper with memento ink.

Isn't that pretty.
