This has to be my favourite, its another cased card this time from Lisa Young. The holly leaf is a lovely stamp. Just using it in black is very effective. You all know I love a daub so yes there is a little daubing then the addition of the black glimmer paper just finishes it off. I also had some of the brads left but used them with some of last years jute ribbon which I have daubed, folded in half then cut between the threads and fluffed it out. I think this might be one of my makes for my own Christmas cards this year.
A collection of creativity, paper based beautiful cards, home decor and fun junk journals. Thread based knitting and sewing for my wonderful grandchildren, plus my occasional thoughts and insights to life in general.

Vintage Leaves again......
This second card we did in class yesterday was an excuse to try out the wet wipe technique. I have only done this a few times, What I like about it is that every image you stamp is slightly different, the more you do with the same wet wipe pad the muddier the colours become. I like a muddy colour.
Originally I was going to stamp a sheet with the hardwood but knew that my ladies would run out of time with that to do as well as everything else so I used up some retired paper.....that thick kraft card with embossed patterns on. It looks quite effective and served its purpose. The ladies loved the little pinecones, I can't say they felt the same about tying the linen thread!
Using a piece of stitched ribbon and a button out of my jar, (I will have to show you a picture of my button jar. The buttons came out of a tin in my grandmothers sewing box. Its an old OXO box which I have filled with my embroidery threads!) just finishes off the leaves, they are bright coloured, the ribbon and button being dark.
You have to love this stamp set, check it out in my shop here and the leaf dies here. Plus the pinecones here

Vintage Leaves
It was our regular weekly card class this afternoon and due to various reasons I had to do the creative part and the preparation this morning. So off to pintrest I went. This first card is the simplest make so thank you to Shelley Johnson . I have used a similar paper but not the foil and a different sentiment.
I have also added a few white embellishments.

So autumnal, just like the weather here this morning. Another vintage leaves card tomorrow.

STAR BOOK
Here is the completed project from earlier this week. I wanted to make a more vintage book than last year. My starting point was the card colours. I then used the colour for the important pictures on the inside. I have enjoyed putting this together. I am running this as a class on Saturday October 8th 11.00 - 3.00. Its the only time the class will run as there is so much work it will not fit into a two and half hour spot. We will have a break and go for lunch.
I hope you enjoy the pictures and that they show how beautiful the book has turned out.

I hope this gives you an idea of what the book looks like, I am really pleased with the way the train wraps around to the next page.

Stamp a Sack 4
This is the last of my cards for the Stamp a Sack. We will make 12 cards, 3 of each design. This is the fourth card.
A traditional card in traditional colours. The holly and berries is one stamp from the Father Christmas stamp set. It has been stamped 4 times in 'always artichoke' then the berries are coloured with the real red marker pen. A small red bow, the happy die cut from foil then the 'christmas stmped in real red, this stamp is from the Holly Jolly greetings stamp set. Really like this final one.

Stamp a sack 3
The crumb cake is then matted onto whisper white. This is added to the corrugated card base with dimensionals. A wooden snowflake from stash has been triple embossed with white and some dazzling diamonds added to the last heating. a bit of the silver cord just finishes that corner off.
The Star Book will be with you on Sunday :)

The last 'candle' day. Baby Bear and Paisley
Baby bear was actually the first candle I planned. However it is the last one I have made. This one is clean and simple or less is more. I had lots of ideas about how to decorate the candle and the box but when I started many of my fussy bits went in the bin! What to do, just the bear, a very thin ribbon bow finish. For the box just a fancy bow on the top. Still love the Baby Bear.
Elaine my business partner in Our Creative Den loves the paisley set. This was its first outing and she is a practitioner of 'less is more'!
This candle has a sentiment on the back and the paisley heart on the front, pretty. Again the box is clean and simple, just a fancy bow on the top.
So which is your favourite here they all are:-
TIP for anyone who is going to try this, the Ikea candles although the cheapest are the worst to use. I think they must be dipped in something. We found the Asda candles the best.

Decorated candle with Moroccan Nights
Another fancy candle. I love faffing with all the bits in my stash to find the right shade of bead etc to add the embellishments to these candles.
Wouldn't you like to come to class on Saturday and learn how to get your stamped images onto a candle. Check out www.ourcreativeden.co.uk

Not sure which one I like best, this or the leaves?

Decorated candle with vintage leaves
We have a decorated candle workshop on Saturday so today I thought I would try another one but with the vintage leaves stamps and dies. I have been wanting to use the pine cones from the seasonal catalogue for a while, at last a project I could use them with.
This has worked so well I am really pleased with it. I have used the wet wipes and re inkers technique which is a good way of getting a really colourful display from this set.

Curvy keepsake box
I haven't used this for a while. The Festive Flower Punch was out on my table. My big tip for using this is to cut strips of card to the width needed for the size of petal you are punching.
I decided on a poinsettia, mine from last year is still alive but no red bracts yet.....I live in hope. As I hadn't got the stamps I drew freehand on the petals. Drawing is not my thing but I just wanted to add something. I think it has worked well. As a topper to the curvy keepsake it works well.

Stamp a Sack 2
Quick post this morning, we are off to the seaside for the day.
This is the second card for our stamp a sack on October 1st. We will make 12 cards, 3 of each of the four designs.
I love this little chap. This is a very delicate take, inspired by a pinterest find. I have used the fine tip glue to dot between the stars and dots background little stamp then added some glamour dust. Remember that? Its stayed in my stash for years and despite regular use doesn't seem to go down. It just adds some delicate sparkle.

Delicate Ornament
This stamp set and dies has been carried over from last year in the Stampin'Up annual catalogue. I didn't buy it last year but couldn't resist it this year. Its very beautiful. The die create these delicate lacy baubles or ornaments.
In a few weeks..... Saturday October 1st is Stamp a Sack Day in the Den. In the workshop we stamp a sack full of cards, hence the name, Stamp a Sack.
This card is one of the makes for our stamp a sack. We will make 3 of these cards in the session plus three each of three further designs.
The ribbon is retired stock. The leaves are stamped with versamark then heat embossed with gold and fussy cut. The corner punch is also a retired stampin'Up punch but it just adds that bit of something!
Love the sentiments in this set too.
That die is so detailed. I would recommend the precision plate for this die as well as the die brush and sponge which mean you do not have to spend ages with the pokey tool getting all the bits out!

An unfinished project
In a few weeks we are having a class in the Den making a star book. Its something I have done regularly for the last few years. This year I decided I wanted to create a vintage style book. I always have to make it more than once as when the first book is complete I can see where I could add further embellishments, a bit more daubing and other ideas just come to me. I have only create 4 of the 5 pages so far and already I have one large mistake, I wonder if you will spot it. So here are my 4 first stage one pages.
Its a starting point. Have you spotted the big mistake.
I'm really pleased with the way the train has worked, linking the pages together. and the snow stars and spots work well too.
I'll be back next Friday with the second stage.... it might be a complete book!
