Yesterday was my Christmas in July class. I always have mixed feelings about this. I love summer and the sunshine, I am not a winter person at all, layers of clothes, central heating, cold wet weather, dark evenings, yuk. But I love my Christmas in July class. I probably won't make any more Christmas cards for a couple of months.
I haven't used a christmas stamp set I have returned to 'Waterfront'. Its such a versatile stamp set. I deal for beach scenes complete with beach huts as well as snowy cold christmas trees.
These are my four cards, we made 3 of each and one of them is a shaker card...... you try buying snow in July :) :) :)
This was my first make, a modern christmas tree, clean and simple lines.
The second card uses sahara sand as the base for stamping on rather than white or cream. I have used 3 shades of green to give depth. On top of that I have then used the white kraft ink. I always find this a bit gloopy but for this card it has worked in my favour. The snow uses the dotty (sand) stamp which I have stamped with versa mark then white embossing powder. The addition of the thin silver ribbon just ground s the trees better.
The third card uses one of my favourite ways of working. I love water-colour paper, I tend to use heavy weight, 300gsm as this gives you a better opportunity to use a lot of water without it curling. For this card I have used the night of navy re inker, versa mark and white embossing powder.
Finally a shaker card, not a technique I do often. This one worked well and came together very quickly. Again three greens for the trees but the sky I have daubed with the new grapefruit grove, the old blushing bride and the new heather.
I have made this card twice, the first time I did it you couldn't see the trees as I put too much snow in it! lol.
so which is your favourite?
Pop back tomorrow to see how you can get a kit to make this as part of parcel in the post.
