Nostalgia Week - Traveler

Yes a male card on a Saturday. This is from the traveler set. It is another set that was very well used when I first bought it but it hasn't been out of the box for a while.
This technique of stamping over more than one piece of card is something else I haven't done for a while.

Now this really is a first for me - Washi Tape - I have a lovely collection of washi tape. I have seen it used on lots of cards and in other ways but I have never got to grips with it. I must say its a good job it doesn't stick fast and you can list and re position. The stripes make it look wonky but it isn't I measured! I really like it on this card. The sentiment is from the 'boys will be boys' set.

Nostalgia Week

Another set that hasn't seen the light of day, or should that be a colour of ink, for a while is my set of petite petals. I used this stamp set lots when we had a sentiment that said ' one in a million'. As that retired I had to find another sentiment that was large and swirly - I used the hostess set 'Happy Birthday Everyone.'

This is a very easy card to make, but pretty and delicate looking. I could have stamped more flowers on card, punched them out and added them with some bling but I didn't feel the card needed it. In the words of my friend Elaine "Less is more"
The matt layer is a piece of DSP from the love blossoms paper stack.

The white seam binding ties a lovely bow.

Would you have added some punched flowers or some bling or both.

Nostalgia Week - Papillion Potpourri

Have you got this lovely butterfly set sat on your shelf. When did you last use it?

I haven't used mine for ages. When I have used a stamp set it goes onto a certain end of the shelf so I know what I haven't used for a while as they are all at the other end of the shelf! Does that make sense? Swallowtail is another butterfly stamp, yes that large stamp that is also sat at that end of the shelf. Maybe next week.

I admit this card is a case of a card, although in a different colour way, Julie Kettlewell sent me when I made my first promotion with Stampin' Up. I am very close to my third promotion now and look forward to gaining that later this year. Stampin'Up look after their demonstrators really well and have rewards for demonstrators at all levels.
Back to the card.

I have used the lovely thick white card as a base. I did have to practise this a couple of times until I was happy with it.
Stamping the butterflies down the edge to leave few gaps but ensure they are all whole butterflies is not as easy as it looks. I then stamped the butterflies on to some spare card and punched them out.
The colour combination of Rich Razzleberry - (my favourite of all the colours) Blackberry Bliss - one of the retiring colours this year and wisteria wonder., gives a very feminine card. Again the wisteria seam binding ties a beautiful bow. The rhinestones bling add sparkle.

If you fancy running your own business or just getting a great discount on your own craft purchases get in contact to find out about being a demonstrator. Until the 31st March you get an awesome deal when you join - £160 product for £99.

Nostalga week - Mid Week Male - By the Tide

Gosh this set hasn't been out of the box for quite a while, so much so that when I went to put it away I couldn't get all the stamps back in the box, I knew they had to go in as they had all been in at the beginning grrrrr.

I have added a new technique, well new to me, bokeh. I like this, its organised daubing, thats what I would call it. Really you are creating a background with colour then adding white last which tones it down or brightens it up depending on your background colours and how much white you add. One word of warning, you do need to let the white dry before you start stamping on the top.

Many of my customers say that they find making male cards difficult. These two are ideal.
For the fish card I have used very pale colours from the subtle range, 'soft sky, pool party and wisteria wonder' For the fish and shells I have used 'elegant eggplant' and the words and fronds are in 'crumb cake'. I have tied a few rounds of linen thread around the first matt layer. otherwise I think this is neat and simple. The inside has a large happy birthday.

This second card I have used stronger colours 'pool party, marina mist and bermuda bay' but continued the stamping in the elegant eggplant for the sea horses and shells and crumb cake for the fronds.
I have also used the ink colours to make the small flags stamped with "to you' then stapled on. The inside has the same large happy birthday stamped in elegant eggplant!

Have you used this technique before?  What colours have you found successful?

Nostalga Week

Well where did the weekend go. I can't believe I didn't blog yesterday. It was of those headless chicken days, not much achieved but busy busy!

I thought I would go back to some of the stamp sets I used earlier in the year and create some new cards and home decor items.
I am starting out with home decor. I made one of these last June/July time. I thought I would make another alphabet frame with the dinosaurs.

These two smaller pictures show the detail in the heat embossed bones. Using this technique for the skeletons is very effective.

This is the original frame, re photographed for my Etsy shop which I have just opened properly. I registered it some time ago but never really got it going. I am now adding things daily, this is the link. It would be great if you had time to look.
