Wedding cards
I live near Hebden Bridge, the lesbian capital of England..... or so I am told. I met a lady a few weeks ago who is getting married next year and she was saying that there is a very limited supply of cards for lesbian couples. There is now an industry making wedding stationary for gay men, probably because it was the focus of the media for same sex marriage but even in Hebden Bridge there were few stockists of cards for same sex couples particularly ladies.
So this is my take on the subject....
Technically quite simple, just careful choice of stamp set to use.

Box Frame Friday
Sorry the flash has reflected on this picture, its dark foggy and raining outside.
From closer up you can see that the frame comes with two built in layers which I have turned into four. There is space in the frame to use a thick layer of dimensional to lift the second layer from the back. The frame is only 6" square so a nice size to work with. Its from a well known supermarket with orange packaging!
The bird had to have a separate wing to give him a bit of life.
These two small pictures taken close up show the use of the fine tip glue, It makes it so easy to get the shine on small parts quickly and with no mess. Don't know how I have managed without it. Its now in my list right up there with Tombo!

Penultimate birdie, and its christmassy.
Using a non Christmas stamp for Christmas cards, is often quite challenging.
Here I have achieved it by adding glimmer paper berries to the foliage.
The bird isn't quite robin shaped enough to take on that role with a red breast but it is like a wren, many of which I see in my garden at this time of year.
The addition of more glitter could make it even more seasonal but I'm not really a glitter person.

A curvy card using An Open Heart
On this card I have also used stamps from the 'Choose Happiness' set, the lower foliage and the fence.
Another reason I really like this set is it reminds me of two lovely holidays we have had in Majorca where there were orange, lemon and lime trees around our patio. It was just a bit unreal to have this sort of real fruit in the trees! No I don't get out much!.
Lots of fussy cutting and watercolour but worth the work.
This is the view from above
And this from the front with the two curvy parts open
Here the first curve is closed and the second one open
I have even given the birdie an extra piece of wing to make him 3d

One sheet wonder birdies
I am a great fan of the 'one sheet' wonder stamping. Giving a number of stamps an allocated colour, then filling the space. I have done it lots of times mainly with floral stamp sets. Today it was the birdies turn.
I lined up my coloured ink pads then allocated each colour a stamp and starting with the largest stamp off I went and I am actually rather pleased with the result. What do you think?
Colours used include, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Watermelon Wonder, Lost Lagoon and Cucumber Crush, all from the two in colour collections.
Again I think there may be a few of these being made with a variety of colour combinations.

Birds in retro colours
Its the start of bird week. This is a clean and simple looking card. A steady hand was needed to get all those birdies in a straight line and evenly spaced I can tell you. Plus that sort of accuracy is not my strong point. But I am quite pleased with this one.
You could make a batch using variations of colour, that might be a later in the week stamping job.

The sentiment is from one of the hostess sets that you can buy only when you host a party and there is a great deal on at the moment for hosting a party, contact me for more information and available dates.

New Home
One of my very good friends moved house last week whilst we were away on holiday. We didn't live in each others pocket but I will miss her.
Using my new fancy fold (again!) I made this card for her new home, plus a box to send it in. The stamp set is actually last years and no longer available but this is the first time I have used it, shameful I know!
The paper with the purple flowers on is part of the 'Into the woods Designer Paper pack'. There will be more makes with this next week, the designs are really lovely check them out in my shop if you click on the + sign when you get to the page it enlarges the picture so you can see the detail on the individual sheets in more detail.
The other papers are from the 'something borrowed' collection which is no longer available but I know is one of my friends favourites. I have used the mini alphabet stamps to put the 'new' in the sentiment.
The houses I have stamped a number of times next to each other then water coloured with crumb cake ink. The flowers and ivy I have done free hand using the marker pens. (and I can't draw)

Today we have 'simples.........'
Well its a very simple card. This is to kick start my week of bird themed cards using some old as well as some new stamps. For all those stampin up demonstrators there will be a small competition next Friday to see how many of the stamp sets you recognise from the birds! Get revising.....
So it is also non Christmas today. I started out with two contrasting colours, one from each set of In colours. so we have Blackberry Bliss, everyones favourite, and Cucumber Crush, many people have been unsure about this one. Now I am a green person, every room in my house has a green colour theme, but every room is different. I love this, its so bright and cheerful and suits certain things more than the other greens. I was looking to get a clear lino printed feel to this card and the Cucumber Crush is just right.
Its simple, its clean and fuss free. Hope you like it.

Wonderland again, again, again for class.
Its arrived at last the day for my first special Christmas class. I have two lovely ladies coming tonight to use the wonderland stamp set and designer papers.
Here is my room all ready for them to start working, as its christmas I have made a little treat bag using the 'mini treat bag thinlets', I have cut these in card then covered with paper as the 'wonderland' paper is a little thinner than the norm. Inside, ..........well you will have to come to class to find out!
Their goody bag has the stamp set, 1/2 a pack of paper. 1/3 part of the vellum stack. embellishments and ribbon. All the card bases are pre cut as are the matt and layer pieces. All they will have to do is stamp, cut their paper which I have given measurements for and put together. I say 'all' tongue in cheek as its going to be a close thing getting the four cards done in the time. Here is a picture of all my makes using this suite of products.
Next class is the evening of Thursday 29th October...... next week, making a fun in the snow plaque, in this class you will get the plaque and then use my stamps and papers to make the item, you may decide that you want to make a series of cards with the penguin or snowman in which case you can order the stamp set, deliveries are only taking a few days at the moment. Go on come and join the fun. Its mince pies all the way at the moment.
NEWS ALERT I have slipped into my schedule a colouring class. Thursday 5th November the
class £10, we will make 4 cards in 2 colour ways, these will be large 6" square cards or
class + stamp £20 Pictures to come at the weekend.
And the 4 th card to be made tonight is a straight case from Linda Higgins that I found on pintrest. Its quite a simple make to get things started. It does involve stamping and heat embossing though.
Colouring at the weekend and I think a change next week.....birds!

Christmas Tree in a box
Its amazing OH is showing so much interest in what I make at the moment. His comment about the penguin card from yesterday was
'it looks like a penguin portal, I'm just waiting for hundreds of penguins to flap through and start dancing'.
What am I going to do with him?
Back to today's make, its a while since I made a box card and I spotted this I think on Pintrest or maybe You Tube so I went in search and found a 2 video tutorial here its a very clear tutorial with all the measurements and a step by step approach. I loved making mine. It does make an impressive sight.

Its such a dull day here the pictures above have been taken with a flash, I really do prefer sunny days.
So what do you think of this as a statement piece?

Refold and Penguins,
You will need to scroll down for the penguins but first.......
Well I went back to the card I posted yesterday as I just wasn't happy with it, then the OH said, why don't you try it folded the other way and Bingo. it just looks so much better.

Thats better.
And now for the penguins.
I really did want to cut the size down so I have reduced the height to a normal C6 card. When folded the whole card will squish into a standard envelope although I will make a box for mine.
This penguin from the Snow Place stamp set is so cute, I just want him to jump up and down and dance to the Happy Feet beat!
What do you think of this then?
Quick note: The classes and events page has been updated. Please have a look.
